ENG vs PAK: Key England Players Who May Miss ICC T20 World Cup Finals

ENG vs PAK Final

ENG vs PAK Final: The anticipation of T20 World Cup is rising high. In the most crucial time, if there is any injury, then it becomes a big problem for the team. After their stupendous victory against India in Semifinals, England might be affected by some injuries in the camp.

ENG vs PAK Final: Injury in England Camp

Coach Matthew Mott has warned that including Mark Wood and Dawid Malan at this point may be a gamble. Therefore England is ready to play without both players for Sunday’s T20 World Cup final against Pakistan at the MCG.

Wood and Malan both sustained injuries during England’s last Super 12s game, their four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in Sydney, and they were subsequently replaced in the playing XI for Thursday’s semi-final match against India in Adelaide by Chris Jordan and Phil Salt, respectively.

ENG vs PAK Final: Malan, Wood Injured

Mott said, “Malan and Wood are definitely struggling. We’ll keep an open mind. But there’s a short turnaround between games, with a travel day and then straight into it with one training session. There isn’t a lot of time for them.”

“I would like to maintain a bit of hope them. It is disappointing. They have been two great players for us, particularly over the last month. They are big losses.”

“But it is a real risk taking injured players into big games and I think you can really regret that, particularly when you’ve got players that can come in and do a good job. Sometimes you gamble when you don’t have that depth, but when you’ve got players that are capable of doing a role, I think it makes the decision a lot easier. Everything would have to go right for them to be available at the moment.”

ENG vs PAK Final: Mark Wood Talks about Injury

Wood disclosed on his Good Pace for Radio podcast. That he had injured his hip flexor four balls into his first over against Sri Lanka. The England camp had previously diagnosed Wood’s ailment as muscular stiffness.

Although Wood stated his sole attention is on Sunday’s championship game, England’s management may be wary for him to risk worsening his injury before their Test series in Pakistan next month.

He said, “I want the team and everybody to be successful here and we played fantastically well in the last game. It was just a bit of a scramble for myself where I was trying to see if I could get to the level required and I just couldn’t get to it.”

ENG Vs PAK Final T20 World Cup: What the Captain Said:

The captain of England, Jos Buttler, declared during the semifinal match against India that playing Malan and Wood was “never a possibility.”

“They weren’t at a level of fitness that they could have performed as they would have wanted to in the game,” he said.

“Getting through to the final gives them a few more days and we can see how they pull up and hopefully progress to be available for selection come the final.
