Both England and Pakistan had gone down in the semis in the last edition of the T20 World Cup 2021. They had lost to New Zealand and Australia respectively. Both these teams downed their opponents in the semis of this edition. They will be contesting the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022. #4 West Indies – 62.50%
The inaugural winners of the ODI World Cup, West Indies boast of a credible win percentage in the semis. They have won two World Cups apiece across formats. West Indies became the first side to win two T20 World Cups just like they won the ODI World Cup.
It was ironic that they missed out on qualifying for this edition of the T20 World Cup. The Windies have contested 8 semifinals so far winning 5 of them. Their win percentage is a credible 62.5.
#3 England – 70%
They defeated India to qualify for their third T20 World Cup final. England the winner of the T20 World Cup in 2010 is now the leading white-ball side in the world. They underwent a revolution post the 2015 ODI World Cup.
England has qualified for semis (4 times) in every ICC World Cup since then. They had to wait for 44 years to win their maiden ODI World Cup in 2019. England though was a regular participant in the World Cup finals up until 1992 (3 times). Their win percentage thus is an impressive 70.
#2 Sri Lanka – 75%
They are the most consistent Asian side when it comes to qualifying for the ICC World Cup finals. Sri Lanka has won two World Cups across formats. Despite their conversion rate in the finals being a bit iffy, Sri Lanka is a force to reckon with in ICC tournaments. They have 6 won semis out of the 8 they have qualified so far. Their win percentage is a solid 75. They are tied on percentage points with Australia.
#1 Australia – 75%
There is a reason why teams are most wary about Australia when it comes to ICC tournaments. They have made it to most semi-finals (12) along with Pakistan and New Zealand. It is here where the Aussies are a notch above others. They made it to 9 finals out of the 12 semis that they played. Australia has won 6 World Cups across formats so far – 2 more than the next best. Their win percentage of 75 in 12 semis is outstanding.
