What are the shortlisted venues for the 2021 World Cup?

The BCCI has already shortlisted the venues for the grand event in 2021. BCCI has picked Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mohali, Dharamsala, Kolkata, and Mumbai amongst the venues to host the 2021 T20I World Cup games. However, some of the BCCI members are not pleased with the selected venues. As per reports, the following members were expecting a wider distribution in the shortlisted venues. The report further suggests that the members will raise the concerning issue at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) set to happen on December 24.

“It’s a matter of pride for every center to host World Cup matches. We have high-class stadiums and top facilities and we want the BCCI to consider our case as well. We are OK with the bigger centers hosting India matches. But at least give us some games. We will raise the issue at the AGM,” President of West Zone State Association said according to Indian Express.

Virat Kohli will be eying his first major ICC trophy

Indian skipper Virat Kohli will be looking forward to the grand edition next year. The 32-year-old skipper has failed to bag any major ICC cup since he became India’s skipper. The Indians have managed to gather a poised T20I squad and can be a leading contender for the upcoming tournament.

India has previously hosted the T20I World Cup back in 2016 in which the West Indies side were crowned as the champions. MS Dhoni-led the team India in the said tournament. Indians reached the semi-finals of the tournament but fell short in front of the Windies in the knock-out stage.
