Lifestyle Battle Of Two Super-Kings: Suresh Raina Vs Ambati Rayudu

Suresh Raina was one of India’s finest middle-order batsmen who loved to take the attack to the opposition. His clear-minded approach of taking the game head-on made him one of the best-limited overs finishers. He was an asset to the Indian ODI and T20I team. He was the first Indian to notch up a T20I hundred when he brought up a century against South Africa in T20 World Cup, 2010.

Raina’s prowess to clear the boundary at will separated him from the rest. He was Chennai Super Kings’s go-to man comes a crisis. Raina was known as Mr. IPL for his exploits in the tournament. One of the most valuable qualities of Raina was his agility in the field and the ability to affect direct-hits thereby changing the course of the game.

Ambati Rayudu was one of the few batsmen to have cemented his spot at number 4 for the Indian team. He made everyone take notice of him when he slammed a brilliant 177 in 2002 against England U-19 while the Indian U-19 team toured England. Rayudu was the captain of the India U-19 team in 2004. But he could never really push the door for national selection thanks to his fiery temperament.

He joined the rebel league, ICL (Indian Cricket League). Rayudu finally got a chance to represent the national team in 2014 and from there on he was a consistent member of the team. He narrowly missed out on being part of India’s World Cup squad in 2019 and he announced his retirement in disappointment. Rayudu was an integral part of both Mumbai Indians (2010-17) and Chennai Super Kings (2018-20). His skills as an opener and a middle-order enforcer makes him a fine player.
