‘Had To Close Social Media After Receiving Abuses’ – Aakash Chopra

MS Dhoni‘s countrywide fan-following is second to none. The former Indian skipper was able to place his name on the heart of all cricket fans because of his on-field presence and match-winning knocks. Since India ‘s exit from the 2019 World Cup semi-final, the wicketkeeper-batsman has not entered the ground.

Despite being away from the game, MS Dhoni’s craze and the fan-following are not going to diminish. In the 13th edition of the IPL, Dhoni is 38 years old and will be back on the ground via leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, Dhoni stopped coming back as the tournament postponed indefinitely.

Dhoni fans are still waiting for his re-entry, as they still believe he can bounce back to the international scene. Recently, cricketer-turned-commentator Akash Chopra had to face the wrath of Dhoni fans as well. Chopra didn’t include the wicketkeeper-batsman in his T20 World Cup 2020 squad. He took a bold move and slotted out the Rishabh Pant instead of Dhoni.

Chopra ‘s decision did not go down with Dhoni’s ardent fans, as those fans mercilessly bashed him. In a recent interaction with Ajit Agarkar, Chopra revealed that MS Dhoni fans abused him so much that he had to close the social media for a couple of days. Fans also did not hold back in abusing the children of Chopra.

Ajit Agarkar also spoke with the Indian team about the future of MS Dhoni.

“For a few days, I had to close down my social media. People have abused me. And they abused the kids too. Forgive me, please, and what’s happened, “Chopra said.

During this interaction, Chopra questioned Agarkar with the Indian side about his views on the future of Dhoni. Agarkar responded by saying that there was no point in talking about it because Dhoni hasn’t played cricket for almost a year now.

“I don’t know. Retiring or not retiring is the call of MS Dhoni. If it fits into their schedule, selectors invited to select or not to select. I don’t know, and it’s going to be hard for the guy who hasn’t played for one year. Do not see the contact between MS Dhoni and team members or the selectors, “Agarkar said.

“We are not aware of this. It’s going to be hard talking about an individual player, but I want to see the player playing cricket. If someone doesn’t play cricket, then there’s no point in giving or discussing opinions about him. I know people are talking about Dhoni because he has not retired and he has not played also.”

“Because of his successes and fan following in India, it’s obvious. Fans want him to play again, but there’s no point of discussion until the time he’s not playing cricket, “the former India pacer added.
