KL Rahul ignored, Chahal and Samson inlcuded in Rohit Sharma-led India squad for T20 World Cup 2024

India T20 World Cup squad: The selection committee on Tuesday announced the 15-member India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup which will be held in USA and West Indies.  

Rohit Sharma as expected will lead the side, while Hardik Pandya will be seen as his deputy in the marquee event.

Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav are the 3-specialist batters included in the squad.  

Rishabh Pant, who made a comeback to competitive cricket in the ongoing IPL after the horrific car accident in December 2022, also made the cut.

Sanju Samson also got selected as the wicketkeeper batter in the Indian T20 squad. 

All-rounder Hardik Pandya is selected as the vice-captain of the team, alongside him Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are the other two all-rounders found a spot.  

Jasprit Bumrah will lead the fast-bowling department along with Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj.

Kuldeep Yadav, who is playing extermely well in the shortest format of the game, has been included in the squad, while Yuzvendra Chahal’s IPL brilliance has benefitted him to find a place in India’s WC squad.  

Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan will travel alongside the 15-member squad as the reserves. KL Rahul, among the biggest names ignored for the big event.

India had reached the semifinals under Rohit Sharma in the last edition of the T20 World Cup which was played in 2022.

India, who won their last ICC trophy way back in 2013, will look to break the ICC title drought by winning the T20 WC title this time. 

India is a part of Group A in the T20 World Cup 2024 consisting of 5 teams including Pakistan, Canada, Ireland, and USA. 

The Indian side will play their first game on June 5 against Ireland.
