IND VS AUS: India Innings

India scored 186/7 thanks to half-centuries from KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar Yadav hit a 33-ball 50, and KL Rahul smacked a 33-ball 57. Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik both made brief appearances to help the cause. With 4/30 in his four-over, Kane Richardson was Australia’s top bowler.

IND VS AUS: Match Analysis

India’s death bowling, which has historically been a weakness, was really effective today. Yes, the warm-up allowed them to explore all of their alternatives, something they wouldn’t have in a regular game. However, Bhuvneshwar, Arshdeep, Harshal, and eventually Shami all delivered flawless death over bowling, including the hard lengths, bouncers, variations, and yorkers. Not to mention some incredible catching as well, although they shouldn’t really go crazy because it’s simpler to get death bowling right in a game with no actual stakes.

Rohit looks content with what he has seen. Positives with the bat came from both teams, and that was the least of their concerns. KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, and Aaron Finch all scored 50s. India might have preferred that Rohit and Virat Kohli spent more time in the middle. Australia could have preferred Glenn Maxwell to perform.

What Captains Said

Rohit Sharma, the winning captain looked content with Team’s performance. He said “I thought we batted well, towards the end we could have added 10-15 runs more. We always want a set batter to stay till the end, SKY did it, overall a great batting effort with nice bounce, was a pitch where you can trust your shots. You got to be smart with batting on grounds like these. You can’t forget to push the balls into the gaps, scoring 8-9 runs in an over can be quite an effective plan. It was a great practice game for us.”

“There is room for improvement, but I want more consistency from the bowlers. You need to keep things simple and hit the deck hard. Overall a good game for us, they had a decent partnership and that put us under pressure. He (Shami) is coming back after a long time, so we wanted to give him an over. Wanted to give him a challenge and let him bowl the final over, and you saw what he did.”

The losing team’s captain, Aaron Finch shared his views on the loss. He said, “We learned that we need to be clinical towards the back-end, we didn’t capitalize towards the end. We did drag them back after that blistering start from KL, happy with my own form. He’s fantastic (on Kane Richardson), every opportunity he gets for Australia, he’s there performing, that shows the depth of our pace bowling unit. 22nd will be a great day, looking to start off on a winning note, playing against New Zealand and at the SCG will be always special.”
