The second match of the Caribbean Premier League kicked off yesterday morning and the second match of the competition wrapped up where Saint Lucia Kings faced off Trinbago Knight Riders.

Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bowl first, Lucia Kings opened their innings with J Charles and Leroy Lugg but the Lucia Kings lost their both openers pretty early, Mark Deyal tried to carry the innings forwards, and as the innings progressed Deyal fell prey to Akeal Hosein after scoring 35 runs from 24 balls with four fours and two sixes.

Wickets were failing in regular intervals and Lucia Kings were suffering to stand strong, Roshon Primus was the highest run scorer for the Lucia Kings side with 38 runs from 24 balls with three fours and two sixes.

Akeal Hosein from the Trinbago Knight Riders team completely mesmerized the batting line-up of Lucia Kings by picking up 4 wickets in four overs with an average economy of 3.20. On the other hand, Jayden Seales picked up two wickets in three overs with the highest economy of 12.70.

Amazing bowling performance from Trinbago Knight Rider’s side made sure that they restrict Lucia Kings for 143/9 in 20 overs.
In reply, Sunil Narine and Tion Webster opened the innings for Trinbago Knight Riders, even though the TKR side lost one of their openers early Tion Webster stood tall and scored an amazing half-century where he scored 58 runs from 45 balls with 3 sixes and six fours.

Time Seifert the wicket-keeper was the second highest run scorer from their side where he scored 34 runs from 39 balls, the big guns like Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran and Andre Russell failed to put on a show as all the star batsman couldn’t stand strong, but the job of chasing the target was done by other players.

From the Lucia Kings team, the bowlers tried their best to stop the TKR batsman and to some extent, they were successful in doing that, Alzarri Joseph took four wickets from four overs with an average economy of 4.20.

Trinbago Knight Riders won the match by 3 wickets and Akeal Hosein was awarded the man of the match award for his amazing four-wicket spell which helped the TKR side to restrict Lucia Kings for a decent total.

After the match when asked about the player’s performance TKR skipper Kieron Pollard stated that “We will take the two points, we want to finish it before the last over but we will take everything into the equation. We haven’t played T20 cricket for a while as a group and are happy to have finished on the winning side. We are playing the CPL now, if these players needed a break before, they should’ve been managed. We have invested a lot in these players as a team and franchise, having said that these are international players, we gave Nicholas a 12-day break to adjust. As a team, we will have to manage them but our main goal is to win the title.”
