Change in ICC Women’s T20 Bowling Ranking After England Women Thrashed India in 1st T20I

The ICC has updated the T20 Women’s Ranking in the Bowling Department post India‘s contest with England where the hosts thrashed the visitors by 9 wickets. The No. 1 T20I bowler is still the renowned England spinner Sophie Ecclestone, but Sarah Glenn, a teammate, has closed the gap after the most recent rankings.

Following the first game of the series between England and India, the ICC updated the women’s player rankings on Tuesday, and there was a lot of movement in the T20I standings.

To start the series, England defeated India in Chester-le-Street with ease, winning by nine wickets. Glenn was the match’s standout player, taking four crucial wickets and earning Player of the Match honors.

Ecclestone was unable to secure a wicket in the same game, and Glenn’s impressive performance propelled her into second place among T20I bowlers, just 13 rating points behind Ecclestone.

Following a series of rests, fellow Englishwoman Katherine Brunt drops to third on the list of bowlers, and India’s Deepti Sharma, who also failed to pick up a wicket in that game, moves down one spot to seventh.

After leading India’s scoring with an unbeaten 29 against England, Deepti fared well in the batter rankings, rising three ranks to tie for 33rd.

Sophia Dunkley, an all-rounder for England, led the winners with 61 points and climbed 13 spots to 44th place among hitters, while teammate Alice Capsey climbed 12 spots to 52nd after scoring an unbeaten 32.

There was no change in the top 10 batters, with Australia’s Beth Mooney in the first place and captain Meg Lanning in second place at the moment.

Following her absence from Scotland’s second T20I match against Ireland in Edinburgh, Kathryn Bryce drops one spot to seventh on the list of all-rounders, which is otherwise mostly intact.

From India, Renuka Singh is the only one present after Deepti Sharma who is ranked in the Top 15 of the ICC Women’s T20 Bowling Rankings.
