IND-W Vs ENG-W: Team India aim to level series against England

IND-W Vs ENG-W

The Indian women’s cricket team will take on the England women’s cricket team in the second T20 International on Tuesday at the County Ground in Derby in an effort to level the series.

The silver medallists at the Commonwealth Wealth games 2022, team India, faced a defeat to England on Saturday by 9 wickets and now trails the series of three T20I games by 1-0.

Batting first, the women in blue only managed to put 132 on board in their 20-overs quota. The all-rounder Deepti Sharma (29* off 24) scored the most runs for the team and was the reason they crossed even the 130 mark.

In reply, the English side chased down the target like a cake walk challenge as they secured a comprehensive nine-wicket win with 7 overs to spare.

After the game, the vice-captain of the Indian side, Smriti Mandhana expressed her displeasure with the defeat and said that they will come back stronger for the rest of the series.

“As a team, we didn’t play the brand of cricket we have played in the last few months, so definitely we were really disappointed (after the loss in the first T20I), but we just took it as one bad day and we know that we have to come back harder and match the standards we have set for ourselves and our team,’ said Mandhana.

The second match will take place at County Ground in Derby on Tuesday, and with all the quality players are there in the side, team India will look to bounce back strongly and will try to take the series to the decider on Thursday, September 15.
