England secured a remarkable trifecta in Test matches this summer by defeating South Africa 2-1 after winning 3-0 against New Zealand and beating India in the postponed fifth Test. Here in this article, we have discussed What Are India’s chances for WTC 2023 Final?

However, the team which got the most benefit of England’s win over South Africa is India. After losing the rescheduled Test at Edgbaston, India found themselves in trouble, but after South Africa lost two straight tests to England, India’s chances of making it to the top two increased once more. The team is now hoping to make the most of the series against Bangladesh and Australia, which includes six Test matches combined, in order to secure a spot in the top two.

In the run-up to the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship final, England’s victory caused South Africa to lose critical PCT (win percentage). With six victories in ten games and a win rate of 70%, Australia are in first place on the WTC points table.

Nevertheless, with a PCT of 60, the Proteas are still in second place, ahead of Sri Lanka (53.33) and India (52.08), but their series against Australia Down Under later this year could make or break their chances of competing in the Lord’s final the following year.

Sri Lanka with five wins and a win rate of 53.33% are on third place, while India with a win percentage of 52.08 currently sitting at fourth spot, followed by Pakistan, West Indies, England and New Zealand.

With only two games remaining as part of their 2021–23 cycle, Sri Lanka will have almost little chance to go to the finals. Even if they win both of those games, it will still be unlikely that they would reach the title game.

India will play a two-test match series against Bangladesh later this year and will lock horns with Australia in a home series of four games.

If Indian side managed to win all six games then their percentage will grow up to 68.6, and they then can easily secure a berth for their second consecutive ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final.
