Australia vs India: Virender Sehwag Lambasts Virat Kohli’s Indecisive Captaincy

Former Indian ace Virender Sehwag took a jibe at Virat Kohli for constantly changing the team under his captaincy. Viru questioned Virat Kohli’s trust in his players and why the same selection procedure not applied on the 32-year-old. Virender Sehwag, who is in the commentary panel in the on-going India vs Australia series, made this said observation after the 1st T20. 42-year-old Sehwag was seemingly unhappy with the constant rotation in the Indian playing XI.

Sehwag Takes A Dig At Kohli’s Paradoxical Captaincy

The former Indian opener was very vocal while criticising Kohli’s game of musical chairs while choosing his team. Sehwag went on to say that Virat Kohli would have never become the player he is if MS Dhoni wouldn’t have backed him despite his poor form in 2014. “Virat Kohli has to think that in the England tour when he had flopped, if he was not given opportunities after that, how would he have become such a big player” said Sehwag.

Sehwag further claimed that Virat Kohli has not supported any of the youngster till now. “He himself says that MS Dhoni has backed him and that he would always remain his captain. Is there any player in this team who will say the same thing for Virat Kohli, it is difficult” questioned the 2011 World Cup winner.

According to Sehwag, Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer should have been handed a start in the first T20 against the Australians considering his fine form for team India in the past. Sehwag feels that no one in the team, including Shreyas Iyer, have the guts to go and confront Virat Kohli about his decision to drop them. “If you talk about Shreyas Iyer, if in the previous T20 series he had given a good performance, then on what basis did you not play him this encounter. Is there any reason? I don’t think even Shreyas Iyer has the guts to go and ask why he was not played.
