Australia vs India: Ravindra Jadeja Will Miss Rest Of The T20Is

Ravindra Jadeja carried his side to a defendable total of 161 runs with his explosive knock of 44* off 23 balls. However, the left-handed CSK all-rounder didn’t join team India in the second innings due to a concussion he suffered during the first innings. Yuzvendra Chahal, who was named “Man of the Match” in 1st T20, was brought-in as a concussion substitute in place of Jadeja. Australian coach Justin Langer was seen protesting about the substitution which caused Australia dearly in their run-chase.

However, it turns out that Ravindra Jadeja will miss the remaining two T20Is as well because of the hit he took on his helmet. Pacer Shardul Thakur will replace the southpaw in the squad. BCCI, in a media release, confirmed the news of Jadeja’s absence from the rest of the T20Is. As per reports, Jadeja also picked up a hamstring in the first innings. Jadeja took charge of India’s innings in the 3rd ODIs and the 1st T20. The all-rounder was hit on the left side of his forehead during a Mitchell Starc delivery in the final over of the first innings.

“There were no plans of having Yuzi (Chahal) in the game. Jaddu (Jadeja) got a knock on the side of the head and was a bit dizzy and still is,” Kohli said in the post-match presentation. “Concussion replacements are a strange thing, today it worked for us maybe another time he wouldn’t have found a like-for-like,” he added.

BCCI’s medical staff conducted a detailed test on Jadeja after the first innings and came up with the conclusion that the player is not fit to play in the second innings. The Australian staff was seemingly unhappy with the substitution as they later questioned why was an all-rounder got replaced by a full-fledged bowler.

Sanju Samson, in a post-match interview, said “Jadeja got hit on the helmet in the last over (off Mitchell Starc) and when he came back to the dressing room, he was asked by the physio (Nitin Patel) how he felt. He (Jadeja) said that he was feeling a little dizzy”
