Virat Kohli And Ravi Shastri Held A Conference Call With Rohit Sharma

Virat Kohli-led side team India fell on their face in their opening two games against Australia in the on-going “Down Under” series. Indian bowlers failed miserably to get hold of the Aussie batsmen as they heavy leaked runs to make things arduous for the Indian batsmen. India tasted defeat in both of their run-chase as the Australians handed them massive scores of 375 and 390 to run after. Many Indian fans are  fuming over the lack of caliber shown by the Indians on the field as well as questioning BCCI and Virat Kohli’s decision to drop Rohit Sharma for the Australian tour.

Virat Kohli’s statement about Rohit’s situation

Virat Kohli, in his recent interview, stated that there are lots of confusion in regards to why Rohit Sharma was not involved in the Indian squad for the on-going series. The 32-year-old skipper added that there is a communication barrier between the board and the team in relation with Rohit Sharma’s injury. “Before the selection meeting, we got a mail that he is unavailable, that he has picked up an injury during the IPL. It said that the pros and cons of the injury were explained to him and he understood and he was unavailable said Virat Kohli before the 1st ODI against the Aussies.

Virat Kohli’s statement citing to Rohit Sharma’s situation created a lot of buzz as fans suspected the growing politics in the Indian dressing room. However, there are reports claiming that Indian coach Ravi Shastri alongside Virat Kohli indulged into a conference call with Rohit Sharma to understand more about his injury.

Conference call between Kohli and Sharma

As reported by Mumbai Mirror, Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri decided to hold a conference call with Rohit Sharma soon after the skipper’s press conference on Thursday. Rohit Sharma, who is currently training at the National Cricket Academy at Bangalore, was accompanied by his trainers in the conference call with the Indian skipper and the coach. Chief selector Sunil Joshi was also present in the call. The report further suggests that a final call will be made on December 11 regarding Rohit’s availability for the Australian tour. Rohit Sharma was supposed to join the Indian squad for the last three Tests but was later replaced by Shreyas Iyer in the squad. India will play their first Test against the Australians on December 17.
