Best batting strike rates in T20 World Cup: The 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia was one of the most balanced World Cups. It wasn’t the easiest of tournaments for batters to get going from ball one. But across the eight editions of the T20 World Cup, we have seen batsmen posting tall scores. The World Cup in 2016 especially saw boundary hitters thrive the most. There is a lot of importance attached to batting strike rates since that edition.

We look at the top eight batters with the best batting strike rates in T20 World Cup:

#8 Aiden Markram – 137.36

He has been one of the most consistent players for South Africa in the last two editions of the T20 World Cup. Aiden Markram is one of the rare breeds of batters who scores effortlessly even in a T20I. He is equally good against both pace and spin. Markram has scored 261 runs in 10 T20Is at an average of 31.55. He is the only South African on this list with a strike rate of 137.36. 

#7 KL Rahul – 138.19

He has not been at his best in the crunch games in both the T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022. Yet he features at number 7 on this list. This shows the class of KL Rahul as a batter. He doesn’t have any visible weakness as a batter in T20Is. Rahul has played 11 T20Is scoring 322 runs at an average of 32.20. He has scored 5 fifties in 11 innings at a strike rate of 138.19. Rahul is one of the two Indian players on this list.

#6 Glenn Phillips – 138.46

He scored a brilliant century against Sri Lanka in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Glenn Philipps showed his worth as a middle-order enforcer even in difficult batting conditions. Phillips is innovative against pace and spin. He has a batting strike rate of 138.46 in T20 World Cups across 12 games.

#5 Alex Hales – 139.21

He made quite a comeback to the England side in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Alex Hales was among the early England dashers who attached importance to scoring quickly. He has had fantastic returns in T20 World Cups scoring 568 runs in 20 games at an average of 31.55. Hales scored at a strike rate of 139.21. 

#4 Jason Roy – 144.33

He couldn’t make it to the 2022 T20 World Cup owing to a continuous poor run of form. But Jason Roy has had his moments in the previous editions of the tournament. He has scored 306 runs in 11 games at an average of 30.60. Roy’s USP though his ability to consistently keep striking. His 144.33 strike rate finds him a number four spot on this list.

#3 Jos Buttler – 144.48

He along with Alex Hales batted India out of the tournament. Jos Buttler led the England side admirably to a second T20 World Cup title. He is easily the best T20I opener in the world. Buttler has scored 799 runs in 27 games at an average of 42.05. His strike rate of 144.48 is up there with the very best in the business.

#2 Glenn Maxwell – 147.68

There is no surprise that Glenn Maxwell occupies the second spot on this list. The Australian is known to bat on just the top gear. Maxwell is fondly called the ‘big show’ owing to his exploits with the bat. He has scored 446 runs in 24 games at an average of 27.87. Maxwell’s strike rate of 147.68 is second-best among all the active players.

#1 Suryakumar Yadav – 181.29

He is miles ahead of the rest of the pack on this list. Suryakumar Yadav has played two T20 World Cups scoring 281 runs at an average of 56.20. His numbers stand out both in terms of average and strike rate. SKY strikes at 181.29 in 10 games he has played so far. He is 14 points clear in terms of average and 34 points ahead in terms of strike rate against the second-best on this list.
