Senior Indian Pacer Could Miss New Zealand Tour

Indian senior pacer Ishant Sharma, who was playing in a Ranji game, hurt his ankle on Monday while bowling just before the Test squad for the New Zealand tour was to be announced. This injury took place in the fifth over of Vidarbha’s 2nd innings and Ishant’s third over.

He was suffering from severe pain and badly needed immediate medical help. In that match, Ishant Sharma had bagged 3 wickets by conceding 45 runs.

When rival skipper Faiz Fazal tried to pull a short delivery, it struck his pads. But Ishant, who vociferously appealed on his follow-through, slipped suddenly.

He was one of the key players for India in 96 Test matches and he was a part of the Test squad for the upcoming tour against New Zealand. But unfortunately, Ishant has injured his right ankle during a Ranji match.

As for now, he will be joining the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for rehabilitation and his next outing is expected to be at a practice match at Hamilton. This injury may have put paid to Sharma’s hopes.
