PAK vs IRE Highlights

PAK vs IRE Highlights: Pakistan ended their T20 World Cup campaign on winning note by beating Ireland in a low-scoring thriller in Florida.

Shaheen, Amir and later Imad Wasim did not allow Irish batters to settle at the crease and together grabbed 8 wickets by giving only 41 runs in their 12 overs. Ireland, however, somehow managed to score 106.

The men in green also witnessed some heat and lost 7 wickets during the chase, but thanks to skipper Babar Azam, whose steady knock of 32 not out helped Pakistan to win the game.

Pakistan opted to bowl first at the bowling friendly conditions at Florida proved their decision right by sending half of Irish side back into the pavilion inside the powerplay.

Shaheen started the trend in the first over of the innings by claiming 2 wickets; Amir joined the party in the next over with a scalp.

Shah Afridi and Amir both grabbed 1-1 more wickets in their next overs to break the back of their opponents.

With 32 for 5 after 6, the Irish side was needed to play some defensive cricket, but Campher did the same mistake of playing aggressively on a bowler’s favouring conditions and threw his wicket in the seventh over.

Gerath Delany and Mark Adair tried to rescue the side with their 34-run stand for the seventh wicket but as soon as Delany walked back, Irish side managed to add 30 more runs to finish their innings at 106 for 9 in 20 overs.

Imad Wasim remained the most economical for Pakistan with 4-0-8-3.

Pakistan to chase 107 in 20 overs

Chasing a target of 107, Pakistan faced a shocking start as their openers left the crease first six overs. And the team lost another 3 wickets in the next 15 balls.

Things almost got out of Pakistan’s hands when their last specialist batter except Babar left the crease when the men in green still required 45 to win.

Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam stood tall above all odds and went on to smash 32 runs and remained unbeaten in the process.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, who starred with the ball for Pakistan, also released the pressure from his side with the bat too, as he struck 2 important sixes while batting down the order that guided Pakistan finish the game in their favour.
