IND vs AFG Super 8 Highlights T20 World Cup 2024

IND vs AFG Super 8 Highlights: India made a dominant start to their Super 8s campaign in the T20 World Cup by defeating Afghanistan with a margin of 47 runs in Barbados.

Indian bowlers were at it best while defending an above par total, as Bumrah and Arshdeep again starred for India with the ball and bagged 3-3 scalps each.

Earlier, India scored 181 for 8, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive 53, and a responsible 32 from vice-captain Hardik Pandya.

Opted to bat, India faced a shaky start as skipper Rohit Sharma once again failed to provide his side a solid foundation and went back to pavilion after scoring only 8.

Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli tried to rescue him but Pant’s greed to sweep against a spinner cost him his wicket. He forgot that the bowler in front of him was none other than Rashid Khan, who knew that Pant would try to sweep, and he trapped him in front of the wickets.

Kohli, who went past 5 runs for the first time in this World Cup, was looking in good touch, before he threw his wicket away due to the increasing pressure. He scored 24 off 24.

Afghanistan’s captain the dismissed Shivam Dube to put India under pressure.

But Indian vice-captain Hardik Pandya played a huge role in guiding India to solid position, as his responsible 32 off 24 soaked all pressure from Surya’s shoulders, who remained the highest run-scorer for India in this game with a 28-ball 53.

Fazalhaq Farooqi again grabbed 3 important wickets for Afghanistan to retain his top spot of most wickets in the tournament. While skipper Rashid Khan bowled the most economical spell with a 4-0-26-3.

Afghanistan to chase 182 runs

Rahmanullah Gurbaz started the run chase in his style by smashing a four and a six in the first over itself.

Rohit Sharma called his main man into the attack, and Bumrah did not disappoint his skipper, as the right-arm pacer got the wicket of dangerous Rahmanullah.

Skipper Sharma then introduced Axar Patel in the fourth over of the game, and he sent Ibrahim Zadran back to pavilion.

Gulbadin and Azmatullah tried their best to steady their team’s ship with their 34-run stand before Kuldeep Yadav got the wicket of the former.

Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi also failed to play crucial knocks with the bat. While other batters looked clueless against Indian bowling line-up, and were bowl out for 134.
