Gavaskar Thinks India-Pakistan Series Not Possible At The Moment

Batting great Sunil Gavaskar has weighed is on the ongoing discussion of India-Pakistan cricket series to collect funds to fight the deadly corona.

Gavaskar does not think such series is possible as he said that there is a possibility of snowfall in Lahore but a bilateral series between India and Pakistan is highly unlikely to happen under the present circumstances.

Gavaskar: There Is A Chance Of Snowfall In Lahore Rather Than India-Pakistan Series

“There are more chances of snowfall in Lahore than bilateral series between India and Pakistan,” Gavaskar told former Pakistan batsman Rameez Raja on his Youtube channel.

The talk on Indo-Pak series started when former Pakistan pace-bowler Shoaib Akhtar suggested that India and Pakistan should play a 3-match One-Day International series to raise funds to battle the dangerous corona outbreak.

Akhtar wanted these matches to be played behind closed doors without any spectators. He expects huge revenue from the television broadcasters as there is a huge demand for these matches as it has been so long since they took place.

However Indian world cup-winning-captain Kapil Dev dismissed the suggestion saying that India does not need the money and no cricketer’s life should be put in danger and it is not worth risking a single life for the sake of cricket.

Gavaskar also shared his opinion that both the teams will meet in ICC events and world cups but a full series only between them is improbable at the moment.

“Both teams will keep on meeting in World Cups and ICC tournaments, but a series between them seems unlikely right now,” he said.

India And Pakistan Have Not Met Each Other In A Bilateral Series Since 2007

Meanwhile, it was also reported Afridi supports his former teammate idea of the India-Pakistan series as he feels that it will help fight the common enemy corona in the region.

He hit back at Kapil Dev that he did not expect him to talk negatively about the suggestion and such negative reactions will not help fight the crisis.

India and Pakistan have not met each other in a full-series since 2007 due to the political tensions between the two nations.
