MATCH DETAILS:
The fate of Australia in the opening ODI relied heavily on how well their middle order was coping. With half of their side out for 123, including their abundant opportunities cheaply, many of Australia’s supporters at home may have felt it was the ideal time to get some sleep.
The 2nd ODI match between England and Australia is scheduled to be played on 13th September (Friday) at Old Trafford. The match will start at 5.30 pm IST (1 pm local).

Led by Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell, two of Australia’s maligned cricketers, the tourists came roaring back. A score of 294/9, on a surface where bowling into the pitch reaped rewards, was a competitive one, even more so with the superb Josh Hazlewood in such breathtaking form, with apt support from the wily Adam Zampa.
All of a sudden, England lost two consecutive games dating back to the third T20I. In fact, one may argue that Australia has had the best of England over the four white-ball games to date, so Eoin Morgan ‘s men will be looking for a second match answer.
Their first loss was not without good results, however, with Sam Billings’ superb hundred more showing off his talent to go with powerful displays from Jonny Bairstow, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Adil Rashid.
PITCH REPORT:
The pitch in the first ODI gave assistance to the spinners, as well as to those bowlers who would bowl to the surface. A score of 275 + beating first may very well be a winning result. Similar conditions can be predicted for the second ODI, and the weather outlook is also very good.
