One of the most successful franchises in Indian Premier League Chennai Super Kings is all set to leave an impact in the upcoming South Africa T20 league as they roped in the former CSK opener FAF du Plessis as their marquee signing for the cricket South Africa League and are likely to appoint the former Indian skipper and the man who led CSK to 4 IPL trophies MS Dhoni as the mentor of their CSA’s team.

Not just that, the management wants to recreate CSK’s magic in the new tournament as they are looking at Stephen Fleming as coach and MS Dhoni as mentor. But for latter to happen, the BCCI needs to show green flag.

According to media reports, the official name of the team will be announced in some days. While the announcements of the coaches and other support staff will only announce after the name.

According to insidesport, one of the CSK’s official has confirmed about the developments as he said, “You will know the official name by this week. We are currently in talks with Stephen as we can’t think of any better person carrying forward the CSK legacy in a new venture.”

FAF du Plessis joins CSK’s Joburg Franchise in CSA League

All the six franchise in the new South Africa league are owned by IPL owners and due to confidentially clause, they are not revealing their star signings, but according to a report by cricbuzz CSK’s Johannesburg franchised has signed FAF du Plessis as their marquee signing.

Du Plessis was part of Chennai Super Kings from 2011 to 2021, except 2016 and 2017 season, when the yellow team was on 2 years of suspension. Du Plessis was then bought by Royal Challenger Bangalore in 2022 mega auctions and lead the side too.

Dhoni to be part of CSA’s new T20 league?

The official also informed about the chances about if Dhoni be in the team or not. And if is, then in what role.

“Dhoni’s involvement will depend on BCCI’s clearance. He won’t be playing but could be in some role if BCCI permits.”
