‘Cricket Dream Restart As Early As Possible’- Taniya Bhatia

“It Is Not Easy For Me To Sit At Home”- Taniya Bhatia:

Taniya Bhatia is expecting the cricket will restart as soon as possible. In the Lockdown time, she shared what she is missing in the quarantine time and her feelings on self-isolation and on the spoiling of sporting schedules.

The pandemic of COVID-19 has made us face a tough period. Especially when we’re used to a busy existence as an athlete — we’re always practicing, traveling, and playing matches. As soon as I landed from Australia in India (after last month’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup), I realized the problem, the whole world is dealing with.

Since then, we have to self-isolate at home, not just for our protection but also for those around us. With citizens testing positive for coronavirus in Chandigarh, coping with the condition has been a subject of significant concern for the local authorities.

For me sitting at home isn’t simple, so we’ve planned some daily home fitness workouts to keep me active—basic activation tasks including cores, arms, gluteus, some isometric movements, and wall exercises (like juggling with the ball). I always do yoga including breathing exercises and simply relaxing, as well as play some tennis ball cricket in our backyard with my brother for fun.

“I’m Also Catching Up On A Lot Of Stuff On The TV And Online”:

Being away from home for almost 50 days was a challenge and then the frustration of not winning the final of the T20 World Cup (against Australia) provided me time to introspect. While I’m resting right now, I’m hoping cricket can start as early as possible, so that I can practice.

I am trying to cook. Recently I have made shahi paneer and egg bhurji, while at breakfast I always make tea for everyone at home.

It’s nice to be together with family members in this difficult moment. Sharing meaningful time with my dad, sister and parents help me get through the days. I missed my mother’s cooking in Australia. She built a really cute corner on our house’s terrace, where we normally chit-chat over coffee in the evening

I’m also catching up on various stuff on the TV and online — I have been watching The Test and a number of other web series.
