IPL 2020 Seems to be Postponed Indefinitely As Lockdown Extends

Since Lockdown Has Been Extended, We Have To Postpone The IPL 2020 For The Time:

The forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) season is expected to be deferred indefinitely as Prime Narendra Modi confirmed that the national lockdown will be prolonged as a precautionary step against COVID-19. BCCI sources reported the development hours after the announcement from PM Modi.

“We have to delay the IPL for the time being because the lockdown has been prolonged, the decision will be intimated, we will be addressing the matter later today,” sources inside BCCI told to media.

PM Modi declared earlier today that India will stay in lockdown to control COVID-19 cases until 3rd May.

The IPL Was Scheduled To Begin From March 29:

The 21-day lockout, declared last month by the prime minister, was scheduled to close today.

“All districts, localities, states would be closely supervised for how strictly they are following norms. States that will not enable hotspots to grow, they could be permitted to let some necessary activities resume, but with proper precautions. “Modi told the nation in a televised address.

The IPL was supposed to commence from March 29 but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the competition had to be postponed until April 15.

As part of steps to curb the spread of the pandemic, at the time of BCCI‘s declaration, the Central Government had also suspended all visas to India until April 15.

So far the country has recorded 10,363 cases of COVID-19. Among them, 8988 cases are active, 1036 have been healed, and 339 have died from the infection.
