Indian Premier League (IPL), The largest T20 tournaments of India is all set to take place in the year 2020 from 29th March (Sunday). And the final match is scheduled to be held on 24th May (Sunday) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
The IPL Governing Council, Brijesh Patel has confirmed all these dates on 27th January. In that meeting, the members have done some interesting changes for this IPL season. So, let’s find out what they are!!
IPL 2020 New Rules & Changes
For this season of Indian premier league, several changes, as well as new rules and regulations are included.
Match Timing
In the timetable of night tournaments of IPL, there will be no change. Like the last year, it will start at 8 pm. Although previously, there was a decision of changing the time of the night games at 7:30 pm, it is not taking place now.
After the board meeting held between the IPL Governing Council and BCCI in New Delhi, the earlier Indian Captain and BCCI president, Saurav Ganguly confirmed the timings in the media conference.
Also, he added that this time they have only five doubleheaders (4 pm and 8 pm). This means, only six games can be played at 4 pm start, and other games will start from 8 pm.
Substitute Players Rules
Saurav Ganguly, the BCCI President has confirmed that this 2020 IPL season will have concussion replacement. According to the rule, in case a batsman, bowler or fielder hurt, then the team can replace him during the match. But the match referee should approve that replacement, and this should be like-for-like or an identical replacement.
No-ball Rules
The NO-ball rules are the new add-ons for this season. In this season, another separate TV umpire will judge the front-foot no-balls. After weak umpiring calls of front foot in IPL 2019, this rule is introduced.
Rajasthan Royals’ New Home
In this season, the Rajasthan Royals will play their three home games in Guwahati, at the Barsapara Stadium.
IPL All-Star Games
Another interesting change is added to this IPL season, All-Stars tournament, which will be held before three days of IPL. He ignored the possibility of the new stadium in Ahmedabad as still, it is not ready for the games. The profits earned from the tournament will go to a charity but not decided on the place yet.
