IPL 2024: 2 players who could replace out of form Glenn Maxwell

Who can replace Maxwell at RCB?

Who can replace Maxwell at RCB: Known as big show, the Aussie great has failed to deliver as per his standards, especially after playing for so long and knowing the Indian conditions best from most of the overseas players.

Playing for RCB since 2021, the right-handed batter has performed extremely well in the last three 3 seasons, having crossed 300-run mark in 3 straight seasons with a minimum strike rate of 144.10.

But he cannot play similarly in the 2024 edition so far, as he only collected 32 runs in 6 innings and recorded 3 ducks. While he is quite decent with the ball with 4 wickets in 6 games.

Gone for zero at the flat Wankhede surface in RCB’s last game in the league, Maxwell suffered a thumb injury during the field time and left the field immediately.

However, the RCB’s director of cricket Mo Bobat has confirmed that Maxwell is well and there’s no injury concern before the big clash on Monday against SRH. Bobat has also backed the all-rounder despite his poor run.

The backing from management will give Maxwell a boost to perform well, but in case Maxwell is not able to deliver in the next games, RCB will look for his replacement.

Who can replace Maxwell at RCB:

There are 2 possible players who could replace Glenn Maxwell in RCB’s line-up.

  1. Cameron Green

Another Aussie all-rounder playing for RCB, can fill Maxwell’s spot. Green, however, already played 5 games for the side, but did not perform up to the mark.

Green has scored 68 runs in 5 games at a strike rate 107, and was benched during a clash with Mumbai Indians, where Will Jacks replaced him.

But Green may make a comeback in place of the more struggling Maxwell

2. Alzarri Joseph

RCB has acquired Joseph’s services for a whopping INR 11.50 crore at the IPL 2024 mini auction.

The West Indies player has played 3 games for the side, and has not got the chance to bat, while he took only a wicket at an economy of nearly 12.

Joseph’s performances thus far are not favouring his inclusion in the team in place of Maxwell, but due to lack of overseas power in the squad, there is no other left in front of the team seeking their first title.
