Virat Kohli’s T20I future

The man who has continuously given his all for his side for the last 12 years is now facing the prospect of being dropped from the T20I side.

He is the one who has won 2 player of the tournament awards in T20 World Cup, and he is world’s leading run-scorer in the shortest format of the game, here we’re talking about none other than the King, Virat Kohli.

Kohli has been pillar for team India over the years, leading them to multiple victories.

Not a long ago, when India was in trouble against the arch-rivals Pakistan at the packed Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), it was Kohli, who not only rescued the team from initial setbacks, but also drove the team home.

But the same player is now facing the heat of being left out from the team, which needed his assistance at big stage.

India is still seeking an ICC trophy even after reaching the semi and finals multiple times since 2013.

And with T20 World Cup 2024 is about to start in 3 months, which will be played in West Indies and USA, the team will surely need an experienced player like Virat Kohli in the team.

According to media reports, the selectors are not seeing Virat Kohli in T20 setup, as they are prioritizing power hitters in the squad, like Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma and Tilak Varma.

However, Kohli, who missed the action for the last 2 months due to personal reason, will be having a chance to prove himself if he able to perform in Indian Premier League.

Why is Virat Kohli not fitting in T20 World Cup 2024 squad?

Virat Kohli’s strike rate in T20Is is 138.15, and the selectors feel it is not enough.

The other reason is that the World Cup will be played in West Indies and USA, and the slow pitches in WI, did not suit his style of play.

Kohli’s T20I future depends on IPL performance?

Averaging 51.75 in 117 matches, Kohli, who last played a T20 two months back, must perform very well to show his worth to be selected for T20 World Cup.

It is learnt that India’s skipper Rohit Sharma already said that he wants Virat in his team at any cost. The squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 will be announced in early May in between the IPL season.
