Veterans Who Can’t Be Ruled Out In The Auctions

The IPL 2022 Mega auction will probably be the last mega auction for many of the IPL veterans. They will be hoping to get picked by IPL teams as the players come in with a wealth of experience. These players have been proven performers across the years. But a few of them have slipped off the radar over the last couple of years. Here are Players Who Can’t Be Ruled Out In The IPL Auctions 2022.

Teams might be wary to pick them up as they look to build a squad that will last a decade. A team like CSK which always counts on international experience has defied this trend. Teams might look to adapt their approach in this mega auction.

Players Who Can’t Be Ruled Out In The IPL Auctions 2022

#7 Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina was known as Mr. IPL not so long ago. He held the record for scoring the most number of runs for the longest time. Raina was not just CSK’s but the league’s most consistent batsman. He has won plenty of games for CSK singlehandedly. But Raina has struggled for form and fitness of late.

He looked completely out of depth in the UAE leg in IPL 2021. But he will be keen to prove a point the coming season. A team like Lucknow will look to milk his popularity.

#6 Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik has played for almost all IPL teams barring few exceptions. Delhi Daredevils picked him up in the first season. He later represented Punjab, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Karthik later played for the Gujarat Lions. KKR picked him up in the 2018 mega auctions. He will again go under the hammer in 2022. Karthik will hit the reset button again next season.

#5 Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu got a new lease of life once CSK picked him in the auctions in 2018. He amassed over 600 runs in that season. Rayudu donned the role of a finisher in 2021. He aced that role too smashing bowlers for fun. Rayudu sizzles in an environment where the management shows faith in him. He is still hitting the ball well. Teams need an experienced Indian batter in their middle-order. Rayudu fits the beautifully. He must be picked in the mega auctions.

#4 Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan had reinvented himself as a T20I opener in the last couple of seasons. He has married consistency with aggression. Dhawan’s strikes at 140+ averaging over 40 consistently. His experience will be valuable for any side that picks him. He surely has 2-3 years of cricket left in him.

#3 Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin is an IPL stalwart. He played a big part in CSK’s glory days. Ashwin was instrumental in their home dominance. He was one of India’s most innovative bowlers in this format. His recent comeback in India’s white-ball plans is an indication of the fact that Ashwin is here to stay. He brings in leadership aspects to the team too. Expect teams to push their purse for Ashwin.

#2 Faf Du Plessis

Faf du Plessis has been one of CSK’s main players over the years. He played a vital part in CSK’s twin wins in 2018 and 2021. Faf in fact was the player of the match in the IPL finals (2021). He is an able leader who led South African team admirably over a significant period. Faf is still as fit as ever. Teams will not only look at him as an opener but an able leader too. He is sure to fetch decent amount of money in the auctions.

#1 Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa arguably made the most definite impact in the IPL last season in just 2 games. He turned round the clock stunningly and helped CSK lift their 4th IPL title. Uthappa will surely fetch a good sum in the auctions next season likewise he did the first time he went under the hammer. He was a much in demand player during the inaugural season. Uthappa will be hoping for one last dance in the upcoming mega auctions.
