India has conquered a stronghold in Centurion, following The Gabba and Lord’s in 2021.  The weather conditions on Day 5 supported the play, as India put up a spectacular display with the red ball to grab the first win in the three-match Test series. South Africa got off to a strong start, with Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuma both scoring swiftly. Here are IND vs SA Day 5 Match Highlights.

In 10 overs, Elgar and Bavuma contributed 36 runs. But, only when South Africa assumed things were fine, Jasprit Bumrah catch Elgar in front of the stumps. After a gutsy 156-ball 77, the SA captain walked away.

Quinton De Kock struck 21 runs off 28 deliveries but collapsed as he tried to play a shot towards boundaries. De Kock aimed for the cut against a short-pitched delivery, and the ball grabbed the inside edge of his bat and destroyed the stumps.

Winn Mulder went out in the following over, removed by Mohammed Shami with a perfect length. Shami bowled the ball at a decent length with the red ball forming away, Mulder attempted to protect it but the ball caught the outside edge, and Rishabh Pant finished the proceedings behind the stumps.

The following to quit was Marco Jansen. Rishabh Pant made a brilliant glow work behind the wickets after the tall South African nicked Mohammed Shami to him. Then arrived and departed Kagiso Rabada. Ravichandran Ashwin produced a lofted delivery, who slammed the ball directly too short and was out for a duck.

When Ashwin took the final South African wicket, as Lungi Ngidi was removed on the very first ball he confronted. The Indians were delighted to bag a 1-0 series lead.

Temba Bavuma remained unaffected by all of this. The right-hander was ruthless against the Indians’ loose deliveries while also being a stalwart in the defense. Following 80 deliveries faced by him, Bavuma remained unbeaten on 35. His caution, however, was fruitless, as the SA lost by 117 runs. As a result, Virat Kohli and his teammates are in lead 1-0 and on their way to conquer the remaining.
