Less than two days remain until the IPL 2023 Auction, and clubs are working nonstop to assemble the finest roster possible for the following IPL season

Angelo Mathews
Another element that lowers his possibility for sale is his extended absence from the league and T20 Internationals. The T20I appearance for the Sri Lanka all-final around took place on March 7, 2021. It won’t be enough for him to play in the Lanka Premier League to land an IPL deal.
Even in the recent Lanka Premier League, he was not up to the expectation as they used to stand up to the occasion very rarely. This might also make the franchises to not purchase him in the mini-auction.
Angelo Mathews played in the IPL from 2009 to 2017 for the Delhi Capitals, Pune Warriors, and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) (DC). He may be an asset to any club given his expertise and all-around abilities, but the veteran’s high base salary of 2 crores INR, however, may prevent him from finding a team.
Mohammad Nabi
Mohammad Nabi, a 37-year-old cricketer, was released prior to the mini-auction by Kolkata Knight Riders. Who paid him one crore in the last year’s mega-auction. Nabi didn’t take part in any contests during the 2022 edition and didn’t help Afghanistan win the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup.
In the current LPL season also he not participating in the matches, which makes the chances of him playing the IPL really difficult. Nabi has recently resigned as Afghanistan’s captain after a disastrous World Cup performance, making him one of the older players to be named at the IPL 2023 auction. As a result, it is unlikely that any team will sign him for the forthcoming season.
Since 2017, Nabi has made only 17 IPL appearances. He has a total of 13 wickets and 180 runs. Before being purchased by KKR in the previous season, the former Afghanistan captain made his IPL debut for SRH. So it will be difficult for him to get sold out by someone this time around.
Joe Root
Root has submitted his name for the first time in recent seasons. The ace batter, who left his position as England Test captain, wants to develop his white-ball skills further.
He put them on the back burner as he set out to become, arguably, England’s best Test batter. Root’s last T20I was in 2019, though he has been participating in shorter forms at the domestic level.
Furthermore, he has never previously been a member of an IPL franchise. He has a respectable T20 record with 2083 runs from 88 games and a 126.7 strike rate. But his last recent T20I experience can be a problem for him. That’s why it will be difficult to find a team in the IPL Mini-auction 2023.
Ishant Sharma
Ishant, one of only two fast bowlers to have played 100 or more Tests for India. He never established himself as a force in white-ball cricket but did so in red-ball cricket. He wasn’t purchased at the IPL mega auctions, and the Indian Test squad also let him go. To make matters worse, he sustained the injury earlier this month while playing for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy opener.

Ajinkya Rahane
Rahane came under fire for his underwhelming strike rate and failure to jumpstart his team. In the seven games he played in the season before, the 34-year-old only managed 133 runs. Another thing that can keep Rahane from being chosen is his expulsion from the Test team.
This is another Ex-KKR player who might not be picked up at the auction is Ajinkya Rahane. The former captain of the Rajasthan Royals was bought by Shahrukh Khan-owned KKR for one crore at the mega-auction last year.
Before getting injured and missing the rest of their games, he played in seven for them. In those games, he only scored 133 runs with a strike rate of 103.9. And subsequently, KKR released him as well. His stock has fallen precipitously in recent years.
He was once a masterclass batsman in the cricket world but as time passes his form and consistency also faded. This time with the last of T20I game time and poor performances he might most probably go unsold at this year’s IPL mini-auction.
