IPL 2022: ‘Let’s Finish The Tournament On A High Note’: Suryakumar After Being Ruled Out

Suryakumar Yadav, the Mumbai Indians’ consistent batsman who was recently ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, has promised to make a good turnaround. The right-handed hitter, who had been in exceptional form this season, was forced to leave the team after suffering a forearm hamstring strain, which was ultimately the cause of his dismissal. This news came as a huge disappointment to MI, who have been having a difficult time in the tournament and were hoping to finish on a strong note.

According to a statement provided by the IPL’s official site, the 31-year-old received the ailment during MI’s exciting five-run triumph against Gujarat Titans at the Brabourne Stadium on May 6, according to the announcement.

The right-handed hitter has been a consistent performer for Mumbai since 2018, and he played a key role in the team’s championship victories in 2019 and 2022. He was expected to be among the contenders this season as well, but an injury has forced him to withdraw from the race.

“With all your good wishes and support, I will be back in no time. To my MI family, I will be cheering for you from the other side, this time. Let’s finish the tournament on a high note and display our true character on the field,” tweeted Suryakumar.

Furthermore, the dashing batsman was one of 4 players preserved by Mumbai Indians before the IPL blockbuster auction in 2022. He definitely did a good job, getting 303 runs in 8 games with an avg of 40 and a strike rate of 140, accordingly, to earn the victory. It should be mentioned that Suryakumar was also absent from MI’s opening four games of the season owing to fitness concerns as well.

When it comes to MI’s season thus far, the five-time champs have dropped 9 of their first 11 games and are the only team to have been eliminated from the postseason chase. So they have nothing to play for except pride in their final games against other teams.
