Sri Lanka Cricket Board Is Willing To Host India & Bangladesh In July

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will host India and Bangladesh most likely in July. The cases of coronavirus on the island are below 500 and for the last two weeks, it has stayed the same way. Lanka is currently scheduled to host India for three ODIs and as many T20Is as possible. The three Tests against Bangladesh that are part of the World Test Championship.

So far, neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) nor the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed anything. However, SLC is confident that it could host its Asian counterparts with the restrictions slowly reduced. Logistic challenges and quarantine measures would be in place due to the pandemic of COVID-19.

“We made inquiries and are expecting an answer from both the Indian and Bangladesh Boards. Ashley de Silva, SLC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), quoted in an interview, the series has not postponed to date.

“We have to look at traveling restrictions in Bangladesh, and the quarantine protocols in both countries. We [with the SLC] discussed, and all aspects are involved. We also need to be mindful of the readiness of the players, but that is going to happen.
Players will return to the training session, however, we need to find out more information on this tour, “said BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
Several home tours have now been delayed by the Lankans. Their series against England was postponed in March and, according to de Silva, it could take place in January next year. There will be also the probability of a limited-over series against South Africa.

Bangladesh and India also suffered from the outbreak of coronavirus. Due to India lockdown, the IPL was delayed for an endless time. After a clean game in Dharamsala, their ODI series against South Africa was canceled.

The third leg of its Pakistan Tour was not required for Bangladesh. They also needed to cancel their matches against Australia in the WTC.
