Team India is currently facing some sort of difficulties in playing against the strong opponent South Africa as the team lost their first 2 games in the 5-match T20 series. Here in this article, we will take a look at the 5 reasons for India Failed Against South Africa In T20Is.
Captaincy Confrontation-
Team India are having plenty of captaincy options in their playing XI itself. Even after they are playing without India’s all-format captain and Vice-captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul respectively, they have bunch of experienced captains in the XI.
Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, and Shreyas Iyer, all of these youngsters have proved their ability in the IPL, but they are still not ready for big international fixtures.
Pant who was appointed as the captain after Rahul’s exit needs to take advice from the senior players in the playing XI specially Dinesh Karthik and Bhuvneshwar Kumar while rotating the bowlers.
IPL Holidaying –
After the completion of the cash-rich league, some of India’s biggest players opted to take rest instead of playing for the nation that is a worrying sign for the national side.
India is seeking for a ICC trophy for the past 9 years, and the last result in ICC T-20 was quite horrifying when the team didn’t even advanced to semis. However, when Indian players need to focus on upcoming T-20 World Cup 2022 they choose to play IPL instead of taking a much-needed rest in the club cricket, and skipping the international series.
IPL Tiredness –
The recently concluded IPL was played for nearly 2 months in April and May, which put the players in complete tiring position as they used to play regular competitive cricket in the span of just 2-3 days.
Before IPL, team India completed the 2-test and 3-match T20 series against Sri Lanka in Feb-Mar. Before that they had played a home series against West Indies, and a big away series against South Africa in December-January 2021-22.
After playing a lot of international cricket instead of taking a break or playing less games in IPL, players opted to play in IPL and felt tired.
Lack of Experience –
The Indian is currently playing the series against the mighty South Africa in the absence of their all-format star players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah.
While Kl Rahul, who was appointed as captain for the tour was suffered from groin injury and was ruled out the series without even playing a single game.
However, the team is looking strong on paper due to their IPL stats but they lack the international cricket experience which is clearly visible as India is South Africa by 2-0 in the 5-match series.
Playing XI Combination –
Without the best of India’s dependable players, Team India played with the best possible eleven in the first T20. Although after scoring 211 runs they lost the game by 7 wickets as fans critised Pant over of his rotation of bowler’s choice.
In the second T20, Indian team played with the same XI even after Axar Patel‘s dry run in first T20 where he gave 40 runs in 4 overs. They should have tried the mystery spinner Ravi Bishnoi instead. Also, when India lost Hardik Pandya at 90 in 12.4 overs, they sent Axar in place of experienced campaigner Dinesh Karthik.
The third T20 will take place at the YSR stadium in Vishakhapatnam on June 14, which is a low-scoring pitch and India should try Arshdeep Singh today as he has good skills of using slower balls and he is a sound option to use in the death overs.
