    Axar Patel Biography: Axar Rajeshbhai Patel was born on 20 January 1994 in Nadiad, Gujarat, India. Famously known as Axar Patel is an Indian left-hand all-rounder. He is a slow left-arm spinner as well as a left-hand batter who bats in the lower middle order. Axar has been a part of the Indian squad for the past 3 to 4 years in the tests as well as T20Is. However, he is yet to make a comeback in ODIs. Axar Patel made his IPL debut in season 2014. In TATA IPL 2022, Axar Patel was retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the season for a whopping amount of 9 crores.

    Axar started off playing cricket at the early age of 9 years. However, at the age of 15 years, Axar made imagined being a cricketer. When Axar was in class 9th, his friend requested him to playschool tournament as the team wasn’t able to complete 11 players. Axar was a good study from the beginning but later started to change his interest in cricket with the support of his father. Axar doesn’t only choose cricket because of their interest. He was not able to go to the gym so he decided to continue playing cricket to stay fit. He started off as a batter but later decided to bowl as well.

    Axar Patel Domestic Career

    Axar Patel made his first-class debut in the 2012 Ranji Trophy season. However, he only played a single match during the season against Madhya Pradesh. Axar’s debut season didn’t go down well for him.

    In Ranji season 2013-14, Axar Patel took 6 wickets in the first match of the season against Delhi. He played 7 matches in the season for Gujarat and emerged as the most successful all-rounder for the team. He scored 369 runs with the bat and picked 29 wickets.

    In 2014, Axar was picked in the Under-19 squad and played an important role in the team’s success during many tournaments.

    In the Emerging Teams tournament, Axar Patel picked 7 wickets for the India Under-23 team and helped India in winning the title.

    In 2019, Axar Patel was picked up in the India Red team in the Duleep Trophy tournament and then in the India C squad for Deodhar Trophy in the same season.

    Axar Patel International Career

    Axar Patel made his first international appearance in 2014 against Bangladesh in an ODI match. Axar took one wicket on his debut. Later, in the same year, he was picked up in the Indian squad for the series against Sri Lanka. Axar played all the matches and picked 11 wickets and also scored 31 runs at the lower order. His magnificent performances helped him in earning a place in the squad for ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015. However, he didn’t get a chance to play any match during the whole tournament.

    In July 2015, Axar made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe and picked 3 wickets on his debut.

    Axar played his last ODI match in 2017. However, he was included in the Indian team for ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019 as a standby player but didn’t get a chance to play a match.

    In February 2021, Axar Patel made his Test debut in a Test series against England. He made his test debut 7 years after making his international debut for India. While playing his debut series, Axar Patel picked 27 wickets in just 3 matches and ended up as the second-highest wicket-taker of the series.

    In April 2021, Axar scored his maiden test half-century against New Zealand.
    Axar Patel was picked up in the squad of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup but got injured before the tournament.
    Axar Patel has become a constant member of the Indian squad in T20Is and Tests.

    Axar Patel IPL Career

    After giving some magnificent performances in the domestic circuit, Axar Patel was bought by Mumbai Indians for the IPL season 2013. However, he didn’t play any match during the season.

    Axar Patel was roped in by Kings XI Punjab during the mega auction of IPL 2014. He took 17 wickets during the season.

    In the next season, Axar showed his all-around skills and scored 206 runs in the lower middle order and also picked 13 wickets during the season.

    In 2016, Axar Patel again picked 13 wickets and scored 111 runs with the bat.

    Axar Patel was bought back by Kings XI Punjab for 12.50 crores in the mega auction of 2018. But the season didn’t go well for him.

    In 2019, Axar was bought by Delhi Daredevils for 5 crores and played as a regular spinner for the franchise.

    From 2019 to 2021, Axar played 31 matches and picked 34 wickets, and scored 267 runs. In TATA IPL 2022, Axar Patel was retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the season for a whopping amount of 9 crores.

    In Tests, Axar Patel has played 6 matches and taken 39 wickets with the best bowling figures of 6/38 in an innings. He has scored 197 runs in the tests.

    In ODIs, Axar Patel has played 38 matches and taken 45 wickets with the best bowling figures of 3/34 in a match. He has scored 181 runs in ODIs.

    In T20Is, Axar Patel has played 15 matches and taken 13 wickets with the best bowling figures of 3/9 in a match. He has scored 78 runs in T20Is.

    In IPL, Axar Patel has played 119 matches and taken 99 wickets with the best bowling figures of 4/21 in a match. He has scored 1099 runs in IPL.
