Code of Conduct Breach In BPL:In separate events during their team’s Twenty20 International encounter on Friday in Colombo, Bangladesh’s captain Shakib Al Hasan and reserve player Nurul Hasan were received a 25% match fee punishment and one demerit point for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Since the system’s implementation on September 22, 2016, neither player has had one demerit point.

Shakib was yelling from the boundary edge when Nurul revealed he was switching the bowlers later in the post-game press conference. “I saw Shakib bhai screaming from outside while I was changing the bowlers. For the first time, I witnessed some like this.

What Exactly Did Shakib al Hasan and Nurul Hasan do?

In the 19.2nd over of Bangladesh’s innings, when he was protesting an umpire’s decision, Shakib walked to the edge of the boundary and motioned for his batsmen to leave the field.

When Thisara Perera was sent by the team onto the field of play to communicate a message to the two batsmen. Nurul, the reserve player, objected and pointed a finger at the captain of Sri Lanka. Which resulted in disorderly public behaviour.

Although the BCB announcement did not name a specific incident. All three players were engaged in conflict just before the second inning began.

Which ICC code of Conduct did they Breach?

Shakib was found to have breached Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. Which relates to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.” While Nurul was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.2, which deals with “conduct that brings the game into disrepute”. The aftermath of the Incident 

There was no need for a formal hearing because, on Saturday morning, Shakib and Nurul both admitted responsibility and agreed to the punishments suggested by Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.

On-field umpires Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Raveendra Wimalasiri, third umpire Ranmore Martinesz, and fourth umpire Lyndon Hannibal made the accusations.
