Samson Makes Himself Available for Ranji Trophy After being Ignored in Bangladesh

It looks like Sanju Samson would not surrender easily. He will compete for a position even if he hasn’t been able to gain the management of the India team’s confidence. For the same, he has made himself available to play for Kerala in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23. The Ranji Trophy will be his opportunity to reaffirm why he should be selected ahead of others before the Sri Lanka series. He has started working out in Kochi. As of the second game, Mumbai is also using star batter Surya Kumar Yadav.

After the T20 World Cup in Australia, Sanju Samson traveled to New Zealand as a member of Team India. Out of the six matches on the tour, the 28-year-old did, however, played only one match. Four games in the T20I and ODI series were impacted by rain.

What is next for Sanju Samson

Samson will have to wait until next season, with the Bangladesh trip being the final series of 2022. In the months of January and February, India has three domestic series scheduled. Against Sri Lanka, the home series will get underway. There will be three ODI and T20I matches in the India vs. Sri Lanka series.

India’s matchups with Australia and New Zealand will come after the Sri Lanka series. A white ball series will be played between the Kiwis and the men in blue. The seven-match series against Australia will consist of four Test matches and three One-Day Internationals.

Sanju Samson has chosen to return to local cricket in order to train and make an impression on selectors as he is not eligible for international cricket.

What Players say About Sanju Samson

Shikhar Dhawan on Samson snub. “Mostly every player goes through this phase of not being in the playing XI, even if they have performed well last series. Communication is the key, coaches and captain speak with players. Players like Samson then have clarity as to why he is not picked in the team. Basically, it is all about the benefit of the team, and due to team combinations.

Dinesh Karthik too spoke about Sanju Samson. He said, “Another name we have missed out and I think we have to speak about him. He is one of my favourites Sanju Samson. Sanju has done so well at the middle-order in the limited opportunities he has got. Among these three wicketkeepers with Ishan Kishan (being the third), taking the keeping aside, they are going to look at who are the specialists and who will take the role.”
