BCCI announces increase in monthly pensions of former cricketers, umpires

BCCI has announced an increased in monthly pension of former cricketers and umpires. Here in this article we talk about the increase monthly pensions of cricketers in India.

Jay Shah, the president of BCCI took to his Twitter account and revealed the news. He also stated that due this decision around 900 personnel will be benefitted.

The president of Asian Cricket Council and the secretary of BCCI wrote on his Twitter that, “I’m pleased to announce an increase in the monthly pension of former cricketers (men & women) and match officials. Around 900 personnel will avail of this benefit and close to 75% of personnel will be beneficiaries of a 100% raise.”

With this, the first-class cricketers will now receive 30,000 pm instead of 15K, while test cricketers will get 60,000 pm in place of 37.5K. The pensioners who used to get 50,000 pm will now receive 70K.

Shah made the announcement on day 2 of the ongoing e-auction of IPL media rights for the 2023-2027 cycle.

The biggest cricket league in the world yesterday witnessed an intense bidding, where the TV and Digital rights have been won separately by two broadcasters.

As per media reports, the prices for Package A and B have been pegged at a big amount of Rs 44,075 crore. The deal is for a total of 410 matches for a five year cycle staring from next year to 2027. The TV rights were sold for Rs 23,575 crore, while the digital rights have been sold for a huge price of Rs 20,500 crore.

Notably, last month Shah had also announced a 1.25 crore prize money to the grounds men and curators of all six venues that hosted IPL 2022.

The league stage matches were played of IPL 2022 were played all in Mumbai stadiums, while the qualifier 1 and eliminator was played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The qualifier 2 and the final of IPL 2022 was held at the world’s largest cricket stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
