Peter Siddle announces retirement from international cricket

Australian bowler, Peter Siddle, has announced his retirement from international cricket. He broke this piece of sudden news to his teammates at the Melbourne Cricket ground on December 29. He said to one of the Fox Cricket Broadcasters, “It’s always hard to know when the right time is.

Peter Mathew Siddle is a right-arm fast-medium bowler who made his debut match against India in the year 2008. During this match, he got accolades for taking Tendulkar’s as his maiden wicket in Mohali. In his long career of 11 years, he took 221 wickets at an average run rate of 30.99.

It comes across as an interesting fact that Peter is a vegan. He also said that the plant-based diet played a key role in his fitness and health. He shifted to veganism in November 2012 and didn’t have an alcoholic drink from May 2012.

Peter has been a team player and this news was received emotionally by his team mates.  The Australian cricket coach, Justin Langer, said that Siddle was an unbelievable man and extraordinary cricketer. He was a complete team player. He contributed his full capacity to the Australian cricket and for the game of cricket as a whole. He also stated that the Australian cricket will be thankful for what he has given to the national team and for playing the crucial role in retaining the Ashes in England this year. The Australian Cricket Captain, Tim Paine praised him as “Heart and Soul of the team”

Peter says retiring while still playing well is something every athlete wants to do. He says it’s only an end to his international career. He will be continuing to play at the domestic level along with the Adelaide Strikers as well as Victoria in the Big Bash League and Sheffield Shield, respectively.
