Shreyas Iyer confirms IPL 2021 return. Although, with the IPL 2021 being postponed and due to begin in September, many have predicted that Iyer would return to the team, giving them a much-needed boost as the competition progresses. The Delhi Capitals had lost out on a chance to win their first title in 2020, but 2021 has offered them a chance to do so. Iyer broke his silence about his injuries, recovery, and come back in the IPL 2021 during a recent conversation.

Iyer has been out for several months due to an injury. He was also supposed to play county cricket in England later this summer, but due to his injury, that did not occur. He was unable to participate in the Sri Lankan tour due to his inability to recover in time. Iyer discussed his present situation in an interview.

“The healing process has been done I believe. Now, it is about the last step of achieving strength and range. So, that is going to take about a month and the training is obviously going on. Other than that, I feel I will be there in the IPL,” Iyer said, hinting at his comeback.

“I don’t know about the captaincy. It is in the hands of the owners. But, the team has been already doing well and we are on top and that is really what matters to me. My main aim is to lift the trophy, which Delhi has never done before. So, that is what I am looking forward to,” said Iyer.

Following that, Higgins joked that he would speak with DC’s head coach, Ricky Ponting, and try to reclaim Iyer’s captaincy, as the three of them laughed together in the interview. In terms of Pant’s leadership position, the DC wicketkeeper-batsman got off to a great start as captain, winning six of his first eight games. The Capitals will return to the IPL in 2021 at the top of the points table.
