Jaydev Unadkat Still Dreams To Play For India ; Ready To Grab Any Oppurtunity For Country

Jaydev Unadkat has witnessed fair shares of highs and lows in his cricketing career so far. Unadkat’s bowling has improved by leaps and bounds in the last couple of years, but the 28-year old says his performances in domestic cricket hardly get noticed and people are only interested in talking about why he gets so paid so much in the IPL. Unadkat is once again retained by Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming 2021 season.

Where does Unadkar stand amongst the best Indian pacers?

The Indian pace attack is considered among the best in the world in Test cricket with the likes of Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Siraj all contesting for a place while the team has regular seamers in Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma. Unadkat admitted that the competition for a place in the Indian pace battery is probably the toughest it has ever been.

While leading Saurashtra to their maiden Ranji Trophy triumph in 2019-20 remains one of his biggest achievements, Jaydev Unadkat still has a burning desire to stage a comeback for Team India across all three formats.

Unadkat confidently revealed that he is currently in the best phase of his career as far as red-ball cricket is concerned. He also said that he does not want to think about who was picked for the country and who was not.

“See, I can say that I should have been given the first opportunity, but to be honest, that is just not me. I believe my chance will come as it came previously when I did well. Right after the 2019-20 season, I also picked up 40 wickets, so I have 100 wickets in the last two seasons. I am probably in the best phase of my life in red-ball cricket. I really don’t want to see it that way that they picked someone else ahead of me,” said Unadkat in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda.

Jaydev Unadkat: Just Want To Keep Doing What I Have Been Doing For The Past 2-3 Years

Unadkat stated that he wants to keep performing the way he has been performing for the last 3 years and is ready to grab whatever opportunity comes his way. “Maybe they saw something in them that I was lacking. I just want to keep doing what I have been doing for the past 2-3 years, and be ready to grab the opportunity when it comes my way,” concluded Unadkat. Jaydev Unadkat will be seen in action for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021 which starts in April.
