Jasprit Bumrah Talked About The Importance Of Test Cricket

Young Players Forget Test Matches:

A lot of experts should have said Jasprit Bumrah was an Indian Premier League material. The IPL definitely have helped him to get some popularity, but it didn’t help him to get his maiden call for the national cricket team. During a live Instagram chat session with former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Sunday, Bumrah addressed the value of Test cricket and a famous myth regarding him.

The speed bowler said bowlers had come to him asking about ODIs and T20Is. Bumrah said, however, the young bowlers forget that playing Test cricket makes a perfect cricketer.

You Have To Play Test Cricket To Survive In The Long Run- Jasprit Bumrah:

“Bowlers come to me and say ODIs, T20 thik hai (ODIs, T20I is okay). But they forget, Tests make you a complete cricketer“. Bumrah told Yuvraj Singh during an Instagram session, “In order to play long term, you have to play Test cricket,”

The pacer then went on to claim that people believe his IPL results have taken him into the Indian field, but it’s a myth. He said he first played in 2013 for Mumbai Indians but did not regularly play in 2013, 2014 and 2015. It was his achievements in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the domestic series that earned him a spot in the Indian team in 2016, the pacer said.

“That I made it through my performances at the IPL to the Indian team is a myth. 2013 it was when I came to the IPL for Mumbai Indians. After that, I didn’t perform regularly in 2013, 2014, 2015. I performed well in Vijay Hazare Trophy and then I came into the Indian squad in 2016 on the domestic level, “the paceman said.

Bumrah is completely correct in saying this. In 2013, he’d made his IPL debut. Yet he had only played 17 matches in his first three seasons and took 11 wickets. It was his performances in Vijay Hazare for Gujarat in 2015 which laid the foundation for his debut in team India. He was the tournament’s top wicket-taker with 21 wickets out of nine matches, for which he was called up for the national team early in 2016.

The fast bowler actually began playing regularly for Mumbai Indians in IPL since 2016, after he has become the top T20I bowler of India.
