Is KL Rahul fit to play in India vs Pakistan clash on Saturday?

There was a solid need of a sound batters at the middle-order, and Shreyas Iyer at no.4 while KL Rahul at no.5 completed that set up with their return to the Indian squad.

India was seen struggling with a middle-order problem since both Iyer and Rahul suffered injuries, as the management tried many combinations but none of them went out to be the good back-up option, but Iyer and Rahul’s return provided a big relief to the management and to the Indian Cricket fans.

Shreyas Iyer, who met with an injury during the Border-Gavaskar trophy in March, and had missed IPL, WTC Final, and some bilateral series, is now completely fit to take care of his number 4 spot.

However, Rahul, who also missed the WTC final and other important clashes, was doubtful for India’s opening match in the marquee tournament against the arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2.

India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar while announcing the squad had stated that KL Rahul picked up a niggle and might miss the first match of the tournament.

Rahul is the sole wicket keeper batter in the squad, but his injury has given an oppourtunity to Sanju Samson to travel along with the side in case Rahul misses the match.

What comes as the good news for Indian fans is that the star wicket-keeper batter started his keeping practice in the training session being held at the Alur in Bengaluru, and this process is positive in terms of his inclusion for India’s first match against Pakistan on September 2 at the Pallekele International Stadium in Pallekele.

Rahul can be seen practicing behind the stumps in a video uploaded by Star Stumps on their twitter account.

The right-arm batter has played 18 matches while batting at number 5 position for India in which he has scored 742 runs at an average of 53, and a strike-rate of 99.3.

He has struck one century and seven fifties in the process, and this record easily stats that why Rahul is an important assest for India in the big tournament.
