PBKS Keep Play-offs Hope Alive With All-Round Performance Against RCB

RCB vs PBKS match Highlights: The competition for a spot in the playoffs has heated up, which has resulted in an increasingly complex points table for the Indian Premier League 2022. Punjab Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore with a resounding victory of 54 runs in the recent clash, which allowed them to move up to the sixth spot in the team rankings. Although PBKS’s prospects of qualifying have been improved as a result of this victory, RCB must now achieve more than simply triumph in their last match in order to advance.

PBKS have gotten off to an outstanding start to their innings, regardless of the fact that RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their openers, Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan, both had vital knocks to help their team amass 60 runs for the first wicket before Maxwell bowled Dhawan for 21 off 15 balls. Rajapaksa, the next batsman, was unable to sustain the momentum, as he was out for only one run removed by W Hasaranga.

‘Player Of The Match’ Awarded To Jonny Bairstow

At his most fruitful throughout the game, Jonny Bairstow scored 66 runs off of 29 balls, including 4 fours and 7 sixes, before being dismissed by Shahbaz Ahmed. Yet again, Liam Livingstone was impressed with his aggressive performance, and with the help of skipper Mayank Agarwal, they built a 51-run partnership for the wicket. In the meanwhile, Harshal Patel has dismissed Mayank for 19(16).

However, the lower-order batters were unable to add many runs to the scoreboard, as they fell short of single digits. Livingstone’s magnificent 42-ball, 70-run innings ended when he was bowled by Harshal Patel. The Royal Challengers Bangalore were handed a tough aim of 210 runs by the Punjab Kings.

Harshal Patel (4 wickets), W Hasaranga (2 wickets), Shahbaz Ahmed (1 wicket), and Maxwell (1 wicket) have all been consistent for the side. Josh Hazlewood, on the other hand, proved to be the most expensive spell, allowing 64 runs in four overs.

RCB batsmen have had a difficult start to the innings in pursuit of the big goal. As for the top-order batsmen, Virat Kohli (20) was dismissed by Rabada, while Faf du Plessis (108) and Mahipal Lomror (6(3) were both bowled by Rishi Dhawan in the same over. Besides the loss of three crucial wickets during the power play, the equation for chasing down the total got considerably more difficult for the following batting lineup.

On the other hand, Rajat Patidar and Maxwell built a much-needed 64-run partnership for the RCB, which kept the chances alive for winning the match. Unfortunately, Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar were able to get them out in consecutive spells. Dinesh Karthik and Harshal Patel both added 22 runs to the team’s total, but in the meanwhile, the equation grew far more difficult to beat. The following hitters did only reach a single-digit score.

Bowling powerhouses including Kagiso Rabada, who took three wickets, Rishi Dhawan and Rahul Chahar, who each took two wickets, and Harpreet Brar and Arshdeep Singh, who each took one wicket, ensured that no bowler went wicketless. PBKS was able to keep the dreams of making the playoffs alive with a performance that was strong across the spectrum as a team.
