Rajasthan Royals had a lavish landing of their Indian Premier League ( IPL) 2020 jersey, literally, as it landed on a beach in the United Arab Emirates ( UAE) off a plane with a skydiver doing the honours. Players who had a “beach morning” after a “long practise session” the previous night, as revealed by Robin Uthappa in a video published by Rajasthan on social media, were perplexed at the sight. Riyan Parag, the only member of the squad who had prior knowledge on this development, was one of the first to jump out to the bag that had landed in the sky and to pick the jerseys out of it.
“Everyone has different things to infer. Everyone guesses yachts, everyone guesses jet skis and stuff, “Parag could barely keep his enthusiasm in the video. The skydiver packed the brand-new jerseys in his bag and boarded the flight as the players idled on the beach playing soccer.
Ankit Rajpoot seemed to draw the attention of his mates to a man descending towards them from the sky, and soon the players were hooked to this intruder who had landed in their midst aided by a parachute.
The guest was given an ovation upon landing as the players soon found out the reason behind his high-flying rendezvous. Rajasthan was the winner of the inaugural IPL season in 2008, but has not been able to replicate the feat since then. After finishing fourth in 2018, Rajasthan ‘s success went down as they finished seventh in 2019.
They ‘re going to be led by Australia’s Steve Smith this season, who’s still coming to the UAE as he’s playing two limited-overs series with the Australian squad in the UK. Rajasthan will play their first IPL game against the Chennai Super Kings on September 22.
