Australia becomes the first team to lift all ICC Trophies

WTC 2023: Today Australia made history by becoming the first men’s team in the history of the sport to win an International Cricket Council (ICC) title in each of the three formats. As the new World Champions of the longest format of the game, Australia accomplished the feat on Sunday at The Oval after thrashing India in the World Test Championship 2021–23 final.

Even though Australia may have dropped the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to India earlier this year, they came out swinging in the championship match at the Oval, defeating India by a score of 209 runs. Australia, led by Pat Cummins, performed a complete performance, dominating the competition in London over all five days.

India’s ICC Trophy Drought Continues:

India’s 10-year trophy drought is now extended with the defeat against Australia, and now all eyes will be on the next ODI World Cup, which will hopefully to put an end to it. India Won their last ICC Trophy back in 2013 and it’s been 10 long years since India won anything big on the big stage.

Mainly winning an International Cricket Council (ICC) trophy has become a dream that haunts India, a country that is obsessed with cricket. India’s Men’s team hasn’t been able to end its losing streak and add another International Cricket Council trophy to its trophy case despite its fervor talent, and impressive performances.

Reasons for the ICC Trophy Drought

India’s lack of ICC trophies is the result of many things, including:

  1. Inconsistent performances under pressure.
  2. Foreign countries present difficult playing circumstances.
  3. Top players suffering injuries at crucial moments.
  4. Lack of a stable batting order in the middle.
  5. Excessive reliance on a small number of star players.

Hope for the Best in the Future

Despite the setbacks, there are reasons to be optimistic about India’s chances of moving forward in ICC competitions. Hope for ending the drought can be found in the emergence of new talent, improved infrastructure, and a larger player base. India’s quest for ICC success may not be too far away with a talented crop of cricketers waiting in the wings, especially with the ODI World Cup 2023 coming up in October.
