Mohammed Siraj will be directly part of the Test series against Australia, starting from December 17, 2020. Mohammed Siraj is selected for India’s Test Squad and will be preparing in nets for the mighty Australians in their own back-yard. This is the first time Siraj has been selected in Indian Test’s squad. Mohammed Siraj is not selected for limited over, he will directly be part of four-match Test series and he would have a good chance making his debut in Australia. Siraj was most recently seen in IPL 2020 in Dubai, where he picked 11 wickets in the tournament playing 9 matches.

Siraj Chose To Stay With Team On For The Series Against Australia

The Indian Cricket Team’s official Instagram handle posted an image showing Mohammed Siraj with his Indian teammates. Shubman Gill can be seen on Siraj’s left, with Wriddhiman Saha, Mohammed Shami and Rishabh Pant sitting in the seats behind. While Saha has been seen attentive through his face, Pant can be seen smiling. “Through thick and thin, ups and downs, we are always together! #TeamIndia,” read the caption on the Instagram post.

Siraj lost his father on Friday while the pacer was gearing up in Sydney for the upcoming away series in Australia. The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) said Siraj was given the option to fly back to India to be with his family, but the pacer chose to stay on for the series against Australia.

Indian Cricket Board has still not announced their Test captain post Virat Kohli’s absence because of his paternity leave. Rohit Sharma will not be a part of the limited-overs leg of the tour, as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury. Rohit Sharma will be joining the tour after 1st Test against Australia. The tour begins on November 27, with the first ODI taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Mohammed Siraj’s brother recently told Times of India that the RCB bowler wants to help India win the Test series and pay a fitting tribute to their father. Team India coach Ravi Shastri and skipper Virat Kohli are seemingly providing mental and emotional support to Siraj in Australia during this very tough time.
