India To Play 3-Match ODI Series Against Australia And South Africa Before T20 World Cup

India is to play 3-match ODI series against Australia and South Africa before leaving for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

The games against Australia will be played at Mohali on September 20, Nagpur on September 23, and Hyderabad on September 25. While the team as part of ICC T20 World Cup 2022 preparation will play 3-match T20 series against South Africa before the ODI series.

The T20 series will be held from September 28 to October 3, while ODI will be played from October 6 to 11.

The first match of the shortest format between India and South Africa will take place at Trivandrum on September 28, followed by Guwahati on October 1 and Indore, on October 3.

Just after the T20 series, both teams will lock horns in the ODI series, with the first match to be played at Ranchi (October 6), the second in Lucknow (October 9), and the final match will be held at Delhi on October 11.

The Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) is now planning to wrap up all the pending series which were postponed earlier due to COVID-19.

South Africa, who will play 3-ODI after the T20 series will face the string Indian team “As our secretary, Jay Shah had said recently, we will have two national teams of equal strength available. So the three ODIs will be played at a time when the national team leaves for the World T20,” a BCCI source told PTI.

“The ODI as per rotation was to come to Kolkata but it was during the time of Durga Puja and CAB won’t be able to organize the police deployment during festival time. Hence one match has been allocated to Delhi,” a BCCI source added.

South African team recently visited India for the 5-match T20 series in June, which ended in 2-2 as the decider final game of the series was called off due to rain.
