India suffered a tough 36-run defeat against Western Australia in the second practice match on Thursday in Perth.

Batting first, the hosts amassed 168/8 in 20 overs, while India could only muster 132/8. Except for KL Rahul, who scored 74 off 55 balls, none of the batters were able to withstand the Western Australia attack.

Rishabh Pant, who walked out with KL Rahul to open the innings, was out for 9. Lance Morris packed Deepak Hooda on 6. Hardik Pandya scored 17, while Axar Patel only scored 2. Rohit Sharma, who was named to the playing XI, did not bat.

India has only two more warm-up matches before the India vs Pakistan T20 WC match.

On October 17 and 19, they will face Australia and New Zealand, respectively. India captain Rohit Sharma will use these matches to solve three major issues, including finding a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 World Cup. They are also attempting to determine whether Yuzvendra Chahal or R Ashwin is better suited to Australian conditions. They are also considering how to best utilise Deepak Hooda during the World Cup.

The management is looking into the team’s overall performance. Warmup games will be the decider of the Playing 11.
