Team India secured their eighth Asia Cup title after defeating the Sri Lankan side by 10 wickets in Colombo. 

Bowling first, Indian fast bowlers stunned the Sri Lankan batters and gave them no room to hit or even defence and dismissed the whole side at just 50 in 15.2 overs.  

Mohammad Siraj remained the star for India, as he grabbed six wickets, while Hardik Pandya bagged 3 wickets.  

Indian opening batters Ishan Gill and Shubman Gill comfortably chased down the target in just 6.1 overs to hand India a victory to remember.

Opting to bat, Sri Lanka batters were clueless against Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah and he dismissed the opening batter Kusal Perera. 

The Island side were looking in trouble against Mohammad Siraj as well, and it was the fourth over of the game where Siraj shocked the batters and broke the back of the opposition by taking four wickets in the fourth over itself.  

Kusal Mendis and Dunith Wellalage then managing to stable their side, but Hardik Pandya joined the party for India and got rid off Kusal Mendis, who scored the highest runs for Sri Lanka (17). 

Siraj took six wickets while giving just 21 runs in 7 overs, Hardik Pandya also joined the party and took 3 wickets, while Jaspri Bumrah secured a wicket too. 

India to chase 51 in 50 overs  

Team India comfortably chased down the target as their opening batters Ishan Kishan (23* off 18) and Shubman Gill (27* off 19) completed the chase in just 6.1 overs.  

This marked India’s eighth Asia Cup title (highest by any team), and a second under skipper Rohit Sharma. Previously, Rohit Sharma captained the Indianside in 2018 when he was the standby captain in place of Virat Kohli.
