Topley gave the hosts a good start by taking out both openers cheaply with only 246 to defend. Dhawan went for just 9, reducing India to 27/2 in 8.5 overs, while India’s captain Rohit Sharma was out for a duck.

Before David Willey, who had earlier displayed impressive batsmanship, took the prized scalp of Virat Kohli, Kohli attempted to calm the ship upon his return to the team. The greatest partnership for India for the day was created by Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 42 off 54 for the fifth wicket after the visitor’s top order was destroyed.
To knock India out for just 146 in 38.5 overs, though, the English bowlers put on a masterful performance. To bowl out India, Topley, Brydon Carse, Moeen Ali, and Liam Livingstone each took a wicket, with Willey posting the top stats (6/24) while also taking a wicket for himself.
As the visitors knocked England out for 246 earlier at Lord’s, the Indian bowlers once more put on a superb performance.
Legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal led the attack in the second game of the three-match series, giving India the lead after the pacers led the attack in the first ODI to knock England out for a pitiful 110. The Indian bowlers put up a strong performance, holding the hosts to less than 250.
The England openers gave the hosts a good start after Rohit Sharma ordered them to bat by putting up an opening partnership of 41 runs off 53. The first wicket fell to all-rounder Hardik Pandya as Suryakumar Yadav took a straightforward catch at deep backward square-leg to dismiss Jason Roy for 23 off 33.
Roy was lost, but England kept going since their odds remained stable at 72/1. But then Chahal arrived, and England once more fell. England lost 4 for 30 after reaching 72/1 in the 15th over, with Chahal taking three. Jos Buttler, the skipper, was taken out by Mohammed Shami, who only managed to bring up one wicket.
After the sudden loss of wickets, Liam Livingstone (33) and Moeen Ali rescued England by stabilizing the ship with a sixth wicket partnership of 46 runs off of 45. Pandya added a second as he broke the stand, but that left room for David Willey, who combined with Ali for England’s biggest partnership of the game.
Willey and Ali contributed 62 runs off of 78 for the seventh wicket to push the total above 200. Bumrah gave India the crucial wicket as sub-Shreyas Iyer made a fine catch to end the partnership. With one over remaining, Prasidh Krishna took his maiden wicket after Bumrah bowled a flawless yorker to conclude England’s innings.
With stats of 4/47, Chahal had the most wickets taken, but Bumrah (2/49) and Pandya (2/28) both had two. The Indian bowlers once again put on a strong performance, picking up one wicket apiece in the form of Shami (1/48) and Krishna (1/53). The decisive game is scheduled to take place in Manchester on Sunday with the three-match series tied, July 17.
