The Kolkata Knight Riders purchased him in the 2018 IPL auction in January 2018. On April 14, 2018, he played his first Twenty20 match for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

Domestic Debut 

On November 1, 2018, Mavi made his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy. He bagged 4 wickets as Uttar Pradesh bowled Goa out for just 152 in Kanpur. In his second first-class match against Odisha, he picked up his first five-wicket haul.

Early Cricket Life 

On August 27, 2018, he made his List A debut for India A against South Africa A in the Quadrangular Series. Mavi scored a hat-trick for Uttar Pradesh against Saurashtra on the opening day of the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy in September of that year.

Achievements 

He was in India’s roster for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in December. Also, replaced the injured Arshdeep Singh in India’s roster for the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in November 2019.

Mavi’s Tenure at KKR 

Along with Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi is another India U-19 standout who was drafted because of his raw pace after the U-19 World Cup in 2018. In 2018 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he made his KKR debut.

Mavi’s steady pace of over 140 KMPH and his devastating bouncers have frequently startled his opponents despite his lean build and short stature (5’9″). He admitted that because of his pace and bounce.
